Leire obtained her PhD in Chemistry in 2007 at Manchester Metropolitan University, based on work on the "Characterization of the surface of silica gels for controlled release applications". After an intermezzo in industry, she joined the Richter group in 2010. Her research project involves the use of nanostructured surfaces for studies of molecular and cellular recognition.
