Niels Reichardt received his PhD from the University of Konstanz, Germany. His postgraduate studies on projects in the field of synthetic carbohydrate chemistry were carried out at the Institute for Chemical Research of the CSIC in Seville. Afterwards he had the opportunity to complete his training in organic synthesis at the Institute for Macromolecular Science and Engineering (ISIS) of the University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg developing methods for the synthesis of macrolides as protein kinase inhibitors. In 2004 he started working as a Research Scientist for Glycoform Ltd, Oxford, a biotechnology company developing synthetic therapeutic glycoproteins. His current research interests are centred around the synthesis of oligosaccharides of biological interest, the synthesis of homogenous glycoproteins and the development of diagnostic applications based on carbohydrate chemistry.
